We need to apply to each Island Court for approval of the proposed transfers of business. Each island has its own Court process for the transfers, independent of the United Kingdom High Court process, so there will be a separate transfer in each Island. The separate transfers of business in the Islands will only happen if the United Kingdom Court approves our proposals and the proposals are implemented in the United Kingdom. The terms of the transfers in the Islands are based upon (and are in all material respects the same as) the terms of the transfers in the United Kingdom; the policyholders transferred in the Islands will be treated in the same way as the policyholders transferred in the United Kingdom.

On 4 December 2008 the High Court of Justice in England and Wales approved the proposed transfer of certain insurance business of Scottish Mutual Assurance Limited business and Scottish Provident Limited business to The Royal London Mutual Insurance Society Limited (Royal London Scheme).

The transfers are expected to take effect at 11:55pm on 29 December 2008.

We need to apply to each Island Court for approval of the proposed transfer of life insurance business and the following dates are scheduled for each of the Jersey and Guernsey hearings.
